BRING SHOP CLASS BACK

Iron Eagles is an after school club at Lancaster High School in Southern California. We are a group of like-minded students and teachers who meet weekly to work on car and motorcycle projects. In the absence of an automotive program at our school, Iron Eagles exists for kids who want to get their hands dirty and learn valuable trade skills in a safe, positive environment. Our mission is to bring shop class back!

Student Spotlight

Devyn is the longest running member of the Iron Eagles club. While in elementary school, she would show up to club meetings with her older sister Lindsey, who was a member in the class of 2019. Devyn’s whole family is into cars and car culture. Dad has everything from off-road to hotrods to bosozoku bikes. Mom is one of the best pinstripers in Southern California. Sister is a professional automotive photographer. And then there’s Devyn…”The Pinstriping Prodigy” who started learning the craft at 11 years old.

Devyn has a gift, but it didn’t just happen over night. She’s spent years with a brush in her hand, developing her own style and learning from the best. At just 12 years old, she pinstriped at the Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS) charity auction, earning the respect and admiration of seasoned veteran pinstripers. Now at 16 years old, dozens of shows, and hundreds of pieces later, Devyn’s Pinstriping Designs has taken off. We are so proud of her journey and can’t wait to see what she does in the future. Devyn is an Iron Eagle for life!

Favorite pinstripers: Jeff Styles(socalpinstriper) and Lincoln Camilleri(Links Lines)

Meet our teachers

Mr. Frias teaches Engineering, Robotics, and Advanced Manufacturing at Lancaster High. As a kid, he worked on cars with his grandpa, eventually building his own award winning custom cars. His knowledge of automobile fabrication, body, and paint eventually led to a career in the aerospace industry. After working on everything from lowriders to spaceships, Mr. Frias went back to school to become a Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher. He was Lancaster High’s Teacher of The Year in 2020. He'll begin teaching Composite Fabrication in the fall of 2024.

He eventually graduated to building custom Harley choppers with his buddies while working as an electrician. After years on various job sites, he started working in Information Technology and Cyber Security for a school district. After honing his skills as an IT professional he became a Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Lancaster High.

BECOME A SPONSOR

We started our club with ideas, hopes, and dreams…but no money, no supplies, and no home. Thankfully, people have stepped up. Our school’s robotics team allows us to share a corner of their workshop. We have basic hand tools and storage thanks to generous donations from friends and family. We promote our club by trading supplies for work on various fix-it projects around our school. Staff members even bring in personal projects for us to work on. As our good reputation has grown, sponsors like I-CAR have come forward with PPE and material donations.

Where we’ve been:

Where we’re going:

Iron Eagles is still largely teacher and student funded. That being said, we’re grateful for the support we’ve received and are always looking for ways to partner with new sponsors who share our passion and vision.

We’re just a small club, but with the right support we can grow into a stable program recognized by our school district.
